In the list of the youngest mothers in the world, there are new names. A couple of years ago there was news with the following title: 9-year-old gives birth. In Mexico, a 9-year-old girl, known as Dafne, gave birth to a daughter. A shocking event occurred in the state of Jalisco. The girl, according to her mother’s words, became pregnant soon after the 8th birthday. The father of her baby is a 17-year-old guy. He’s on the run now.
“We are currently looking for this young man,” said the representative of the State Prosecutor’s Office Jorge Villasenier, “because the girl does not understand what happened to her. It is possible that the case will be qualified as rape.”
A 9-Year-Old Gives Birth: the Story in Detail
The baby was born on January 27, 2013, in the hospital Zapopan. The weight of the newborn was about 5.7 pounds. The doctors took this case under special control because of the age of the mother and were going to observe the development of the child for a long time.
A nine-year-old girl from Mexico who gave birth to a child had a full-term pregnancy. According to the director of the hospital where the birth took place, the girl went through a Cesarean section. According to the Mexican media, the newborn had a normal weight and height (19.6 in).
The surname of the girl is not called. The only information available is the name of the girl – Dafne. After the delivery, both Dafne and her daughter felt well.
According to the director of the hospital, her family brought her to the medical institution. The report of her pregnancy shocked the hospital staff, as previously there had never been a case of childbirth at such a young age.
Law enforcement authorities have joined the investigation of the circumstances of this case. According to the Mexican prosecutor’s office, it can be about rape and sexual harassment in relation to a minor. The father of the child could be a 17-year-old boy, the search for whom was actively pursued by the police.
The authorities are searching for the father because they believe that the girl was raped or abused but the girl’s mother didn’t report the pregnancy to the police because she doesn’t think it’s a crime. Dafne claims that she and the father of her baby are in a relationship. She loves him. They were a couple.
Despite the fact that the family of Dafne took this situation calmly and agreed to raise a newborn, the guardianship authorities will still regularly monitor the girl and her parents. According to Mexican legislation, any family in which there are underage pregnant women is considered unreliable and falls under the account of the relevant institutions.
Despite the fact that Dafne did not become the youngest mother in the world (this title belongs to the Peruvian Lina Medina, who gave birth at 5 years and 7 months), she received this status within her state – in Mexico. No one had given birth at such a young age there.

Yelizaveta Pantueva, 6 years, Soviet Union (now Ukraine). 1934
5-year-old Yelizaveta Pantueva was raped by her 70-years-old grandfather and got pregnant. She had her 6th birthday several days before giving birth. Pantueva’s parents did not want the obstetricians to perform a C-section, as it was considered dangerous at the time. She gave birth naturally but doctors had to use forceps and retractors. The 6.6 lb., 20 in. infant girl died during labor due to an early placental tear. She had been born at full term and apparently of a good constitution. According to the doctors’ opinion, the baby girl would have survived if she had been extracted more quickly, revived, and oxygenated. After the incident, the family immigrated to Vladivostok, taking the girl’s grandfather along.

Consequences of Early Pregnancy
Gynecologists around the world are unanimous in the opinion that for the normal development of the fetus and the birth of a healthy child, the age of the future mother is very important. By the age of twenty, the female body is fully developed and ready for childbearing. But sometimes the conception happens earlier. What are the consequences of an early pregnancy that the young mother will have to go through?
8 Dangerous Consequences of an Early Pregnancy
Teenage mothers often have more complications while carrying a child, than 20-30-year-old women. The physiological immaturity of the reproductive system leads to serious complications for the young organism.
Reduction of hemoglobin concentration in the blood leads to intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus. Anemia often develops because of malnutrition. In addition, girls forget about taking multivitamins, smoke and even drink alcohol.
Congenital malformations of respiratory, digestive systems are more often problems of children of young mothers.
Fainting and vomiting are the signs of severe toxemia. Young girls are not ready for such serious tests.
Normal development of the embryo requires hormones estrogen and progesterone. In a young organism, there is a lack of them. As a result, there are problems with the formation of the placenta, which lead to oxygen starvation of the fetus.
Premature babies are born with low body weight. Their weight ranges from 1.1 lb. to 5.5 lb. It is not always possible for physicians to save such a child.
The delivery in adolescents is very difficult. This is due to the narrow, undeveloped pelvis. Therefore, midwives insist on Cesarean sections. Also, gynecologists always talk about the high risk of a sad outcome for a young woman in labor due to heavy bleeding.
Births at an early age affect not only the mother but also the baby. According to World Health Organization, the probability of the birth of a dead child or the death of a newborn in the first month of life is 50%.
Psychological and Social Consequences of Early Pregnancy
In addition to physical complications, young girls are experiencing a strong mental shock. Upon learning of conception, the teenager experiences shock and panic. The fear of public condemnation and parental anger forces the girl to hide her condition. This results in the fact that pregnancy passes without medical supervision. The future mother withdraws into herself, feels guilty, moves away from others. Cases of severe depression and attempted suicide of pregnant women as well as abandoning the child after birth were recorded.
Teenagers in such a situation have to leave school, and their further education remains under question. Attempts to combine maternity with learning often fail. Stop of the intellectual development puts an end to good work and career. Lack of money is the main cause of crime among young mothers.
