Sprintec Birth Control: Usage, Precautions, Contraindications & Side-Effects

Sprintec birth control

Nowadays there is a variety of birth control means. One of the most popular among women is birth control pills. Like any other contraceptive method, they have their advantages and disadvantages. In this article, we will talk about one of the types of birth control pills – Sprintec birth control.

How Do Birth Control Pills Work?

Contraceptive pills have a combination of female sex hormones (that’s why sometimes they are called combined oral contraceptives). Daily intake of these hormones changes the work of the ovaries, preventing the maturation of the follicle and the release of the egg. As a result, ovulation does not occur, and pregnancy becomes impossible.

In addition, birth control pills thicken the mucus in the cervical canal. Due to this spermatozoa cannot penetrate into the uterus and fertilize the egg.

Even if ovulation has occurred, the spermatozoon has penetrated into the fallopian tube and fertilized the egg, the embryo cannot attach itself to the uterine cavity because the mucous membrane of the uterus becomes very thin against the background of taking the contraceptive pills.

Who Can Take the Pills?

Oral contraceptives in our time are not only a method of preventing unwanted pregnancies but also a means of treating many female diseases. Therefore, sometimes contraceptive pills are prescribed even to girls who do not live a sexual life.
